Having gone through the stress of getting a job at a point in my life,I can say that I know how stressful searching for jobs could be and how frustrating it could also be to job seekers.
In our society today getting a job is becoming more difficult and as a result of this job seekers have to be versatile in their search for jobs if they want to land a job quicker.
If you are a job seeker,Then I recommend you use the job techniques discussed below to expand your job search.
1. NETWORK:This simply means meeting people,interacting,connecting e.t.c.Networking is a key technique in job search,social media have Now made the networking technique more easier,If you are a job seeker consider improving your networking skills,tell people you know that you are looking for a job.
* Take advantage of social media to develop new connections.
* Do not neglect people living in your environment,try to establish connections with your neighbors,church/mosque members,former school mates,friends of friend,extended family e.t.c.you never know who would be willing to help.
2. USE OF JOB WEBSITES:Jobsites are one of the most widely used job search techniques,There are a lot of genuine job sites where you can find current job vacancies,to make it more easier for you,subscribe for their email delivery and new jobs posted to these sites would be delivered to your mail.
3. COLD CALLING/MAILING:In job search,Cold calling/mailing is the solicited/unsolicited telephone call/mail to someone in an attempt to apply for a job.You can use the telephone,mail or make enquiries by browsing through the company's websites to find important contacts/email addresses,then you can contact the individuals directly to find out about possible job vacancies.
Note that this type of job search technique may not always be well received.
4. USE OF CONSULTING/RECRUITMENT AGENCY:There are a lot of consulting/recuitment agencies,submitting your cv/applying through recruitment agencies is also one of the key techniques for a successful job search because most companies now prefer using these consulting/recruitment agencies to recruit.
5. VOLUNTEER:Volunteering is one of the effective ways to enhance your job search,It involves working for a company,an organization,an NGO and so on,without getting a salary,wage,stipend or a reward in return, However with a little patience,professionalism,humility and hard work,you may be able to turn a volunteer position into a salaried employment.
6. INTERNSHIPS:According to Wikipedia, An internship is a job training for white collar and professional careers.An internship may be paid,unpaid or partially paid(inform of a stipend).Internship helps the individual develop skills,gain experience,strengthen their resumes, Learn about a field e.t.c.You can get an internship placement by applying for internship advertised by jobsites,network or apply directly to the company of interest.
An internship can also be turned into a paid employment,But it depends solely on the company.
7. COMPANY WEBSITE:This involves browsing through various company's website and applying through their career page,some companies post available vacancies on the career page of their sites without advertising the vacancies.
8. USE LINKEDIN:Linkedin is a business and employment oriented social media networking service.All you need to do is download the app, Register,complete and update your profile,find and use connections,then you can now use the search icon to search for available job vacancies.
The bottom line is,in the job market for you to find the best job opportunities,the combination of the different job techniques is required.Always keep in mind that the various methods of finding job opportunities all have their strength and weaknesses,so try experimenting with a variety of techniques.
