WHY YOU ARE STILL UNEMPLOYED AFTER GRADUATING

   After going through higher institution,the expectations of most parents is for their child/ward to get a job, the expectations of most graduates is to get a job with good working conditions, six figure salary,job satisfaction and so on,but in recent times finding a job after graduating is becoming more difficult dueto some factors which would be discussed below.

    Some of the factors that contribute to you not being employed even with the high grade,intelligence,smartness and so on includes:

1.  YOU WAIT FOR A COMPANY TO ADVERTISE A JOB POSITION OR VACANY BEFORE YOU APPLY:This is common amongst job seekers,in my opinion it

shouldn't be so,sending cold mails helps alot in getting a job quick,some companies don't post job vacancies,I remember getting an interview invite from one of the top microfinance banks as a result of the cold mail I sent them,so I encourage job seekers to always send cold mails,not necessarily waiting for a company to advertise before you Apply.

  2.  BAD NETWORKING SKILLS:Networking is one of the best way you can get a job,your reluctance to talk to people will dramatically decrease your opportunities in finding a job.If  you are unemployed then you have to consider improving your networks.Don't  be afraid to talk to people to help you find a job,Try and establish connections with people,like your former school mates,church/mosque members e.t.c, socialize with your neighbours in the area where you live,join groups and also relate well with your relations,you never know where the help might come from.

3. YOU DONT HAVE A SKILL:The number of unemployed graduates is on the increase,The labour market is now very competitive and having a degree alone cannot get you a job easily or should I say Quickly.To stand a chance of being employed quickly, then you have to acquire a skill that is relevant to your course of study/career path or getting professional certifications helps to boost not only your skills but also your cv and your chance of landing a job faster.so go back to the classroom,seek opportunies to learn  new skills and hone old ones.

4. NO PRE-INTERVIEW PREPARATION:on getting a mail/text invite you become excited you have been invited for an interview again,most graduates believe that after attending so many interviews they do not need any more preparation for forth coming interviews,which in my own opinion is wrong.

    Lack of preparation contributes to the reasons why some job seekers don't get past the interview stage.Interview takes preparation,Research on the company,Rehearse questions you may likely be asked,your attitude during the interview may also contribute,so be Confident,Relaxed and Focused.

  Every year new graduates are produced into the labour market and applicants now outnumber the available jobs,I urge graduates still seeking for jobs not to be discouraged but put in more effort if you are lacking behind in any of the above discussed factors and I believe you would land a good job in no distant time.
